The Ottawa Bach Choir (OBC) presents its final subscription concert of the season, Baroque Magnificence,on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 8 pm, at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 130 Glebe Ave., Ottawa. This performance includes the majestic works of Bach, Handel and Charpentier. Bach’s early cantata, Himmelskönig, sei willkommen, BWV 182, is sung with Handel’s early masterpiece, Dixit Dominus, and Charpentier’s Exaudiat Pour le Roy. Baroque orchestra, Ensemble Caprice, and soloists will accompany the choir.
"This concert presents the best of the Baroque with rarely performed works of a regal nature," says Founder and Artistic Director, Lisette Canton. "These spectacular early pieces by Bach, Handel and Charpentier, performed with the brilliant Baroque orchestra, Ensemble Caprice, will surely awaken the passions."
The Ottawa Bach Choir was founded in 2002 by Dr. Lisette Canton and offers a wide range of choral music from all historical periods, featuring some of Canada’s top choristers. With the combination of a scholarly and emotional approach to choral music, the OBC provides an unforgettable experience of music at its best.
