SEASON SERIES 2026-2027

As Founder and Artistic Director, I am delighted to invite you to the Ottawa Bach Choir’s (OBC) 25th anniversary season of extraordinary choral music! Over the past 25 years, this professional ensemble has travelled the world, received national and international recognition, and won a JUNO award for Best Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral, for its album Handel: Dixit Dominus, Bach & Schütz: Motets! This season we celebrate the OBC’s silver anniversary, with three thrilling subscription concerts: a Baroque Christmas on November 28, with Charpentier’s Messe de minuit pour Noël, Bach’s Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 61, festive works by Praetorius, and more, accompanied by Ensemble Caprice baroque orchestra and soloists; OBC at 25 on March 6, with beloved favourites of the past twenty-five years, voted on by the audience, with organist Jennifer Loveless; as well as Prelude-Europe 2027: Passion on May 8, featuring works the OBC will perform in Europe, including Bach’s monumental cantata, Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis, BWV 21, works by Schütz, Ottawa’s own Nicholas Piper, and more, with Ensemble Caprice baroque orchestra and brilliant Canadian soloists, including soprano Hélène Brunet, tenor Owen McCausland and bass Matthew Li.

The OBC then embarks on a tour to Bachfest Leipzig, the world-renowned festival in Germany celebrating the music and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach, where it has been invited to perform – as Canada’s representative – from among select ensembles around the world.  The Ottawa Bach Choir is proud to bring Canadian artistry, collaboration, and cultural leadership to one of the world’s foremost musical gatherings.

In this 25th anniversary season, come share our passion and celebrate the best that choral music has to offer!
