The Ottawa Bach Choir’s 24th season begins with Handel’s jubilant Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, HWV 76, written in 1739, to John Dryden’s poem in honour of the name day of the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia. Also included is Purcell’s Welcome to all the Pleasures (Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day), Z 339, and Haydn’s Missa Cellensis, Hob. XXII:8, with Ensemble Caprice baroque orchestra and soloists, soprano Ellen Wieser, countertenor Nicholas Burns and tenor Owen McCausland. A festive celebration of music you won’t want to miss!
