My first OBC concert was in November 2003. I read an article about this new choir being started by Lisette and decided to audition for fun. I had no classical training of any kind. I had sung in choirs here and there and played drums – nothing fancy! Somehow, I passed! Thankfully my first introduction to performing Bach was the entry level “Christmas Oratorio”. Talk about baptism by fire!! I’ve been with the group ever since and participate on the business side as a member of the Board of Directors
Highlights of my time in the group include performances in Notre Dame de Paris, the Thomaskirche, and St-Paul’s London. The opportunity to sing with such a talented group of people has allowed me to form the kind of friendships that can only come from the shared experience of music making. It would not be an understatement to say that my participation in the OBC has had a profound impact on my life.
When I am not singing with the OBC I add some variety to life by traveling the country with my family in our camper van. By day, I am a CPA and work as a CFO for a large manufacturing company who are very forward thinking in their approach to flexible working hours, which allows me to benefit from the wonderful opportunities to travel the world and perform with OBC. My ‘double-life’ as a singing accountant has given my life balance and perspective. “Work to live… don’t live to work”
