Canadian countertenor Nicholas Burns has been described as possessing a “thrilling voice,” and past performances have been described as a “revelation” (Opera Canada). Most recently, his oratorio credits include performing Bach cantatas with Philippe Herreweghe, the American Bach Soloists in the US, and across Canada with such ensembles as Early Music Vancouver, Arion Baroque Orchestra, The Theatre of Early Music, Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, Montréal Baroque, and more. Upcoming performances include Bach cantatas with the Ottawa Bach Choir in Canada and at Bachfest Leipzig 2020. Nicholas’ operatic credits include the world premiere of the opera L’Orangeraie by Zad Moultaka, and several of Handel’s operas, including the title role in Giulio Cesare, Bertarido in Rodelinda, Polinesso in Ariodante, and Lichas in Hercules.
