As Founder and Artistic Director, I am delighted to invite you to the Ottawa Bach Choir’s 23rd season of transcendent choral music! The professional ensemble has travelled the world, received national and international recognition, and also won a 2020 JUNO award for Best Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral, for its album Handel: Dixit Dominus, Bach & Schütz: Motets! This season, the OBC presents three subscription concerts, including Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248, on November 30, with the Theatre of Early Music baroque orchestra and international soloists; a Polychoral Extravaganza on March 1, featuring a collaboration with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, highlighting works by each choir, including the OBC performing Langlais’ Messe solennelle, as well as music for double choir; and Gloria! on May 10, a concert of music with an Italian influence, including Vivaldi’s Gloria, RV 589, Handel’s Laudate pueri, HWV 237, and Chiara Margherita Cozzolani’s Dixit Dominus à 8, all with baroque orchestra and soloists. The choir also performs Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in the 2024-2025 Chamberfest Series on November 15, with the spectacular pianist Hinrich Alpers, and opens with a special fundraising event celebrating of Bach & Beer on October 5. A spectacular season not to be missed!
Come share our passion and discover the best that choral music has to offer!
